Job Description: As a Software Support Engineer based in Ottawa, ON you will have responsibility for installation, maintenance, and support of RF conformance test systems for evaluating the Tx/Rx performance characteristics of W-CDMA mobile terminals during R&D and verification, and for conformance testing to 3GPP standards. The duties include becoming an expert on the overall test system, receiving and tracking customer issues, reproducing & resolving issues, and acting as a liaison to the division to tackle more difficult issues. Responsibilities also include traveling to customer sites (up to 70%) to perform software upgrades, apply patches, conduct training, and resolve customer issues. Additional duties will also include developing, programming, debugging and modifications of computer programs for controlling test and measurement instrumentation via GPIB, Ethernet and USB. Typically programs are developed in LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, TestStand, or C/C++ on a PC under Windows XP.
3G with Layer 1-3 experience is the focus.
Job Requirements:
• BSEE/BSCE or equivalent
• 2-3 years experience in the telecom industry using the 3GPP 34.121 terminal conformance specification
• 2-3 years experience writing GPIB software to control test and measurement equipment
• Experience programming in LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI is required
• Experience in customer support field is required
